Pafos

With its population of only 27,000 inhabitants Paphos (also spelled Pafos) is the capital of Cyprus' western region. Most of the inhabitants work as employees in various branches of tourism, because there is not much industry.

Paphos consists of two areas: the coastal resort.area (Kato Paphos) and the town itself (Pano Paphos) which is slightly inland. Paphos airport offers a great link point to many European cities, as opposed to flying into Larnaca (the larger airport closer to the eastern portion of the island) and driving (~100km, 80Euro cab ride each way

Paphos is home to a wonderful countryside, full of historic sites. Paphos is home to some great sporting actives keeping everyone entertained all year through.

Paphos is described as cosmopolitan heaven, with its stunning views, bars and restaurants. It is also home to a small but very charming habour, aging back thousands of years.

Paphos is a place specially created for peace and stunning views. Throughout Paphos area, Paphos town, Yeroskipou, Peyia, Polis Chrysohous and the entire countryside with all its colorful tradition, the visitor is enchanted by the wonders of nature's special gifts.

Pafos

Paphos enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate, with sunny, warm summers and short mild winters when the weather is comparable to a pleasant European spring. In summer temperatures are comfortable without too much humidity. Towards the end of the brief winter season, in late January and February, snow falls on the nearby mountains and it is possible to make a ski-trip and take a dip in the blue sea all on the same day. Paphos guarantees more than 340 sunny days a year.

The economy of Cyprus is a liberal market economy. Paphos, which is located in the south west of Cyprus is governed by the Cyprus (Greek Cypriot) Government, whereas the northern part is controlled by the Turkish Cypriot administration. Due to political instability tourist arrival in Cyprus has not been consistent, resulting in fluctuating economic conditions. Economy depends heavily on fishing and tourism.

For tourists there are several major banks in all the main cities in Cyprus, with English speaking staff and ATM machines.

Paphos currency changed over to the euro back in January 2008. So many expats move across to Paphos each year, due to the schooling and the living conditions. It provides both an exciting opportunity for both families and couples.
